AREA Day 2025

The Alliance for Research on East Asia (AREA) Ruhr presents the AREA Day 2025 – 80 Jahre Kriegsende in Ostasien (The 80th anniversary of the end of the war in East Asia) on 17 May 2025 from 2.00 to 5.45 PM at the NS-Dokumentationszetrum in Cologne.

After an exclusive curator’s tour through the Asia chapter of the exhibition “The Third World in World War II” by Mr. Kurt Rössel at the NS-Dokumentationszentrum of the City of Cologne, representatives of AREA Ruhr will come together at a roundtable to discuss why the 80th anniversary of the end of the war in East Asia is a key topic for understanding today’s political, economic and social developments in the region in terms of historical politics and the culture of remembrance.

Please note: The entire event is conducted in German! Because of limited capacity, both parts of the event require separate prior registrations. Registration forms will be released towards the end of the month and announced together with a more detailed program in our news and on the AREA Day overview page.
