Call for Papers: REA2018, University of Duisburg-Essen
The GRK 1613 “Risk and East Asia” — a research training group funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation) at the Institute for East Asian Studies (IN-EAST), University of Duisburg-Essen — has since its start in 2009 offered doctoral training and post-doctoral research opportunities in contemporary East Asian studies, focusing on the governance of risks triggered by Asian responses to global economic, political and social change.
We will mark 2018, our final year of funding, with a final conference, REA2018, to be held on June 20th and 21st, 2018. The “Risk and East Asia” Final Conference should allow us to take stock of how the “risk” theme has evolved during the recent decade (when it focused our doctoral training at In-EAST), but it should also allow us to point further and chart new challenges. “Risk” was from the beginning the prism through which we could focus the analysis of institutional change as practiced in economics, politics and sociology, and there is no doubt all those who were part of that process gained insights and new ideas from this, not the least the doctoral students. This conference aims to conclude the (still) existing program with outstanding research papers that bring out new, original contributions to the study of risk and institutional change in East Asia. We invite you to submit abstracts for REA2018. Abstracts should be written in English, the official language of the event. For further details regarding the call for papers please visit our conference web site at https://www.uni-due.de/in-east/risk_and_east_asia/final_conference_2018.php. The deadline for submitting abstracts is 28.02.2018.
We look forward to welcoming you in June.
