CfA: 2026 East Asia Plant Humanities Virtual Faculty Residencies

Applications due February 15 for this summer’s virtual faculty residencies: The Plant Humanities Initiative at Dumbarton Oaks invites applications for two-week virtual faculty residencies from June 1-12, 2026. The residencies are designed to facilitate the integration of the Plant Humanities Lab, and associated resources developed by the Plant Humanities Initiative, into curricula focused on plants and people. This year, the program will concentrate on topics at the intersection of East Asia Studies and Plant Humanities. This focus fits within the Initiative’s broader interest in biocultural “hotspots”: centers of plant biodiversity and domestication that have particularly rich archives and traditions documenting plant-human relationships.
