To meet the needs of the rapidly developing Area Studies and the World/Global History field, to build the FIRST internationalized “The Institute of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Studies at Zhengzhou University” in China, Zhengzhou University is excited to invite applications internationally for four to five contract-based, renewable, and long-term positions in Southeast Asian studies, preferably Vietnam and Myanmar (Burma), in the fields of history, international relations, anthropology, political science, sociology, linguistics, literature, religion, etc. Ranks are open (assistant, associate professor, or professor), and the requirements are as follows:

  1. Ph.D. degree from world top universities.
  2. Native or nearly native fluency in English, and are proficient in one Southeast Asian language.
  3. Strong ability in research, teaching, and publishing works in world top journals and academic presses.
  4. Knowledge in Chinese language is a plus but not required.

Successful candidates teach one course per semester; are required to publish one article in world top academic journals per year; plus other related responsibilities. Salary and other terms will be determined individually based on qualifications.

(1)  CV; (2) Digitized copy of dissertation (or book for senior scholars); (3) Photo copy of Ph. D. degree diploma; (4) Three recommendation letters from senior scholars in one’s field; (5) Two representative published articles; (6) Proof of linguistic ability.
