CfA: Assistant or Associate Professor, China or Japan History, Tenure-Track Faculty

The Department of History at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position (#126250) in Japan or China history (any time period) at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in the history of Japan and China for our undergraduate students and contribute to our graduate programs. The candidate will be expected to teach courses in our general education curriculum and work with campus partners. Candidates must maintain an active research agenda. Please note that research expertise in both China and Japan is not required, but successful candidates will be able to teach undergraduate courses for our majors in both fields. A terminal degree in history or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
