CFA: Assistant Professor, Korean Language and Culture, University of Virginia (Deadline: 2022-01-25)
The Department of East Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Korean language and culture. We seek outstanding candidates with research and teaching expertise in areas such as Korean literature and language, film, race and ethnicity, cultural studies, drama, gender and sexuality, popular culture, and media studies. Period of specialization is open, and there is particular interest in applicants who can engage with the Global South and its histories of empire, race, and diaspora. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 2-2 course load consisting of classes in their area of specialty and one advanced-level Korean language readings class per year, maintain a vibrant research profile, and participate actively in department advising and service roles.
