CfA: Associate Professor (junkyōju) or Full-time Lecturer (jōkin sen’nin kōshi), Economic History of Japan

The Faculty of Economics at Osaka Metropolitan University invites applications for appointment as a tenured Associate Professor (junkyōju) or Full-time Lecturer (jōkin sen’nin kōshi) from candidates whose specialty is in the Economic History of Japan. The position will begin from April 1, 2024. Successful applicants should have a Ph.D. in hand by March 2024, as well as a record of publishing and teaching experience in the field of the Economic History of Japan. Upon appointment, candidates will be expected to contribute to the smooth functioning and operations, as well as to work toward the further internationalization, of the university and the department. Candidates should have sufficient Japanese and English abilities to teach classes in either language as well as to perform office and administrative tasks entirely in Japanese.

At the undergraduate level, successful applicants will teach the Economic History of Japan, General Economic History, and various seminar courses as well as supervise the writing of graduation theses. In addition, candidates hired at the rank of Associate Professor will teach graduate student level seminar courses. All courses will be taught at the university’s Sugimoto Campus.
