How much would you contribute?

Leading contributors will be expected to contribute 5-6 posts and contributors 3-4 posts between September 2024 and May 2025. A post is generally between 500 and 1,500 words.

If you would like to participate, but think that you do not have so many topics to cover: no worries! We also welcome guest contributors. Please specify so in the form linked below, or submit your piece at any time between September and May.

What does an editor do?

As mentioned, we are trying to recruit editors to be in charge of posts about African Studies; Middle Eastern Studies; and South Asian Studies. Unlike contributors of any sort, editors are in charge of making sure that each contributor submits their post according to schedule, and reviewing the content of posts within their area of expertise, offering suggestions if needed. They are expected to write one post, the “editor’s digest”, summarizing what has been published up to the date of publication under their guidance. To ensure a smooth process, editors also meet once per semester with active members of the board.

Join our social media team!

We are also seeking candidates for the position of Social Media Manager, who would be running our X/TwitterFacebook, BSky accounts, as well as developing The Digital Orientalist’s online presence (LinkedIn and IG). As we try to expand our online presence, we welcome candidacies with a specific focus (e.g., are you great at Twitter but unfamiliar with Facebook? That’s fine! Tell us in the application form, and we will take it from there).

Please use this google form to submit your CV and application, and send any queries to digitalorientalist[at]gmail.com.

Deadline for applications: July 14th, 2024. Interviews will be scheduled after the deadline.

Please Note: the DO runs entirely on a voluntary basis. We are not able to provide any salary, for any of the positions listed above.
