Available Positions
Positions on the DO’s team will be particularly attractive to graduate students and early career researchers, but are also open to senior academics.
Editor
Editors are responsible for ensuring that each contributor submits their post according to the schedule, and reviews the content of posts within their area of expertise, offering suggestions if needed. They are also expected to write one post, the “editor’s digest“, summarising what has been published within their team up to the date of publication. To ensure a smooth process, editors meet once per semester with active members of the board.
Contributors
We are seeking leading contributors, contributors, and guest contributors, who can address digital humanities applications within their field.
Leading contributors are expected to contribute 5-6 posts and contributors 3-4 posts annually (September 2025-May 2026). A post is generally between 500 and 1,500 words.
If you would like to participate, but think that you do not have so many topics to cover, we also welcome guest contributors! Please specify so in the application form, or submit your piece at any time.
Social Media Team Members
We are also seeking candidates to join our social media team, running our X/Twitter, Facebook, and BSky accounts, as well as developing the DO’s online presence (LinkedIn and IG). We welcome applications with a specific platform focus—for example, if you excel at X but are unfamiliar with Facebook, that’s perfectly fine! Tell us in the application form, and we will work from there.
Application Process
Please use this google form to submit your CV and application, and send any queries to digitalorientalist[at]gmail.com.
Application deadline: July 13th, 2025. Interviews will be scheduled after the deadline.
Please Note: the DO runs entirely on a voluntary basis. We are not able to provide any salary for the positions listed above.
