CfA: Postdoctoral Researcher with Expertise in Chinese Politics

Job Location:  University of Duisburg-Essen (Duisburg Campus), Institute of Political Science, Germany.

The Institute of Political Science at the UDE is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and, with 16 professorships and more than 50 academic staff, is one of the largest teaching and research institutions in the German-speaking world.

Appointment date:
2025-05-01 (at the earliest)

Duration of contract:
36 months

Working hours:
39 hours 50 min. (100%), salary TVL-14

Your main tasks:

  •  You will carry out research tasks in projects and contribute to publications of the chair
  • You will supervise and advise students
  • You will teach two seminars per semester


Your profile:

  •    Outstanding doctorate in political science
  •    Professional experience (>2 years) as a post-doc desirable


Additional qualifications:

• Very good written and spoken knowledge of modern Chinese
• Experience in the (competitive) acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects
• Experience in the (co-)supervision of BA and MA theses
• Very good knowledge of English
• Very good knowledge of (qualitative and quantitative) social science methods
• Publications in high-ranked international journals (SSCI)
