CfA: Visiting Fellowships, Ying-shih Yü International Center for History and the Chinese Humanities

YCHCH 2024-25 Visiting Fellow Program

In order to advance research in Chinese studies and related humanities studies, as well as to facilitate knowledge and personnel exchange between Taiwan and the world, the Ying-shih Yü International Center for History and the Chinese Humanities at National Taiwan University (hereafter “YCHCH”) invites scholars worldwide to submit proposals for visiting fellowships at YCHCH for the 2024-25 academic year. 

Eligibility to Apply

The applicant must hold a doctoral degree and have an academic title of assistant professor/assistant research fellow or above with an academic institution outside Taiwan. The applicant’s research field should be related to the YCHCH’s vision of the humanities.

Grant Period

Two to four months, within one of the two University semesters:
(1) September 2024 to January 2025
(2) February 2025 to June 2025 

Conditions of Awards

  1. One round-trip air ticket (economy-class)
  2. Monthly living and research allowance of NT$ 60,000
  3. An office and access to NTU research facilities.
  4. Eligibility to apply for visiting scholars dormitory

Obligations

  1. The fellow must give at least one public talk.
  2. The fellow must patriciate in events organized by YCHCH at least once.
  3. The fellow must acknowledge receiving support from YCHCH in research carried out during the period of fellowship.

  3. Research proposal (Chinese or English, maximum 5 pages)
  4. At least 1 letter of recommendation

Application and Notification Timeline

Application deadline: 15 March 2024.
Applicants will be informed about the result in mid-April 2024.
