Kiel University has successfully recruited positions in the Federal Tenure Track Program for the promotion of young scientists (WISNA program) and aims to attract more qualified women for professorships.
The Institute for Business Administration in the Faculty of Business, Economics, and Social Sciences of Kiel University invites applications for a limited term W-2 Professorship (six years) tenure track in Business Administration, especially International Management / International Business with a particular focus on China to start at 1st April 2022.
The future job holder shall be responsible for the subject area Business Administration especially International Management / International Business with a particular focus on China in research and teaching. Candidates who are specialized on China in other related fields (e.g., Marketing, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, Organization Science) may be considered.
Kiel University is a research-intensive university with 26.000 students. Four interdisciplinary priority research areas integrate research activities of all eight faculties and are committed to understanding and alleviating pressing societal challenges. Together with regional partners (e.g., Institute for the World Economy), the university offers a vibrant research environment for ambitious early career researchers. The Institute of Business Administration which will house the position, covers a wide range of topics in Business and Management, with a specific focus on quantitative research. We teach in English and German language in various B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs and are active in the development of PhD students.
We are looking for a candidate with excellent achievements in research and teaching. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily within the degree programs of the Institute of Business Administration but also involve teaching related to business in China to a broader audience. The ability to gain and to lead cooperative research projects and to attract third party funding is a desirable. The successful candidate should add substantially to the internationalization of Kiel University with a particular focus on China in cooperation with the China Center of Kiel University as well as the Kiel Centre for Globalization and be willing to collaborate with the Institute for the World Economy. The successful candidate’s research activities in the field of International Management / International Business with a focus on China should be compatible with the research strategy of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences and the Institute for World Economics (“Economic and Social Transformation in a Globalized World”). We welcome the interest in knowledge transfer with companies located in China.
Appointment to the professorship is subject to eligibility for the WISNA funding program. The target group of the program is scientists at an early career stage. We would therefore in particular like to explicitly invite scientists to apply who have only carried out scientific activities for a short period after completion of their doctoral degrees.

After successful evaluation and if the additional requirements of § 62 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Schleswig-Holstein are met, the aim is to grant tenure in the professorship. To this end at Kiel University, in accordance with the current statutes, an evaluation procedure is carried out, usually one year before the limited professorship ends.
