Call for Papers: Association for Taiwan Literature 2020 Annual Conference

Writing Taiwan Literary History in the 2010s

Time: October 17-18, 2020 (Saturday and Sunday)

Venue: National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan (145 Xinda Rd., South Dist., Taichung City, 402, Taiwan)

On account of the influence of transnational flow and internet generation, new subjects and writing styles have emerged in the field of Taiwan literature in the 2010s. As we have imagined the 1960s with modernism, 1970s with nativist literature, 1980s and 1990s with postcolonialism or postmodernism, what sorts of keywords would be proposed for Taiwan literature in the 2010s? In the past decade, the social change and social movements, such as Sunflower movement and marriage equality, the transformation of media and cultural production–e.g., social network service, live stream, cultural and creative industries, and adaptations of literary works in various forms all reshape the literary landscape and the relationship of Taiwan literature and the world. What keywords should we propose for understanding Taiwan’s literary landscape in the 2010s

The association invites scholars and students of Taiwan literature studies to imagine, reflect and evaluate the literary production of Taiwan in the last decade, and to co-write Taiwan literary history in the 2010s. 

Sub-themes include (but are not limited to):

– Rewriting literary history
– Generation
– Social network
– Gender
–  Social movement
– New immigrant/Migrant worker
– Internet and New media
– Transnational and Interdisciplinary

Please submit a 1000-word abstract with your paper title, keywords, and short bio to atlconference2016@gmail.com. The conference only accepts individual submissions.

大會主題：想像2010年代台灣文學史

2010年代的台灣文學場域，在跨國流動與網路世代的影響之下，出現多樣繁複的新面貌。當我們以現代主義想像六O年代，鄉土文學的七O年代，眾聲喧嘩的八九O年代，那麼過去十年的台灣文學關鍵詞會是什麼呢？這十年間，台灣社會內部的變遷與社會運動，如太陽花學運、婚姻平權等，媒體與傳播方式的改變，如社群形成、網路直播、文化創意產業，乃至文學作品的轉譯等，以及跨國的移動者與文化的交流，皆重構了台灣的文化景觀與想像世界的方式。

2020年台灣文學學會年會邀請台灣文學研究者共同來想像、回顧與重估2010年代的台灣文學，以十年作為斷代，一同來書寫2010年代的台灣文學史。

本次會議建議子題列舉如下，但不限於此：
– 重寫文學史
– 世代
– 社群
– 性別
– 社會運動
– 新移民工
– 網路與新媒體
– 跨國與跨領域

本研討會開放個人學術論文投稿。投稿者請提供論文題目、摘要(約1000字)、關鍵詞，另紙附上作者簡歷及聯絡方式。摘要獲接受者，請於期限內繳交全文。
