Special Issue of the Malaysian Journal of Chinese Studies: „The Chinese War Experience in the 20th Century“

The December 2024 special issue of the Malaysian Journal of Chinese Studies (MJCS) seeks contributors to investigate and explore the experiences of the Chinese community globally during the many wars (the two world wars, Korean War, the Vietnam War, etc.) of the 20th Century with special emphasis on (but not limited to) subaltern voices. We are especially interested in how the Chinese people navigate and survive the war years politically, economically, socially, and culturally. MJCS welcomes submissions from the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities from traditional and interdisciplinary fields. Current postgraduates and early career scholars are welcome to submit.

Additional or innovative approaches to the theme are also welcome.
If you are interested in submitting a book review, kindly contact the editorial board (email below).

About the Journal

Published by New Era University College in 2012, the Malaysian Journal of Chinese Studies is the only English-language journal in Malaysia devoted to disseminating original research on the Chinese communities. It is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary journal that publishes articles, reviews, and research notes based on the scholarly studies of contemporary Chinese societies in Asia and elsewhere in the world. It is intended to serve as an international forum for scholarship on the critical discourse on the Chinese as well as their relations with other ethnic communities at the local, national, or international scales from the perspectives of the social sciences and humanities. This focus is meant to provide a special niche to meet the growing needs of researchers working on the Chinese communities in China, in Asia, and in the world, as well as on the Chinese diaspora globally.

The journal is published biannually in both print and electronic versions. Past issues are available here (new users will need to create an account).

We welcome contributions based on empirical, comparative, or theoretical research that are of interest to a wide range of scholars.
