CfP: Thinking Futures in Asia – The International Conference of The DGA’s Young Scholars‘ Group

The Young Scholars Group of the German Association for Asian Studies (DGA) invites submissions for the international conference Thinking Futures in Asia. This conference aims to bring together early-career researchers to explore visions, narratives, and strategies of/ for the future in Asia.
Asia is a region shaped by rapid transformations: technological advancements, environmental challenges, religious differentiation and shifting geopolitical dynamics. How are different actors in Asia imagining, constructing, and contesting possible futures? This conference seeks to examine future-oriented discourses, practices, and policies from multidisciplinary perspectives.
Submission Guidelines
We welcome the submission of papers from early-career scholars and PhD candidates across disciplines, e.g., political science, sociology, history, anthropology, environmental studies, and international relations. Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words and should be submitted via our google form. The submitted paper should be no longer than 15 pages.
Deadline for Abstract Submission: March 2nd, 2025

Registration and Attendance Fees
The general attendance fee for the conference is 75 € and covers lunch on Saturday. DGA members receive a discount of 5 € (you can still sign up!). However, we also offer discounted rates for early registrants:
- Super Early Bird Registration: 55€ (Deadline: February 9th)
- Early Bird Registration: 65 € (Deadline: February 23rd)
- General Registration: 75 € (Deadline: March 2nd)
We encourage participants to take advantage of the early registration options. Payment details will be shared upon acceptance. Please note that the payment of the attendance fee will be due within 7 days from acceptance. The attendance fee is non-refundable.
