The Centre for Modern Indian Studies (CeMIS) of Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, is currently seeking a
Coordinator (f / m)
– Salary TV-L E 14 –
for a permanent, full-time position, at present 39, 80 hours/week. This position should be filled by 1 April 2015 or the earliest possible date.
CeMIS is a joint institution of three faculties — the humanities, the social sciences, and economics — and cooperates closely with the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Ethnic and Religious Diversity. Comprising five professorships from various disciplines, CeMIS is an active Centre for interdisciplinary research on social, historical, economic and political change in modern India. In addition to its research program, CeMIS offers innovative study programs at the BA, MA and PhD levels. The CeMIS coordinator will provide the administrative services necessary for this dynamic and energetic Centre, will support international cooperation, and will assist in the acquisition of extramural funding.
Further tasks are planning, organizing and facilitating workshops and scientific meetings, liaising with the various faculties which comprise the Centre as well as with the International Office and the University’s India Office based at Pune University, overseeing the Centre staff, and promoting and publicizing the Centre and its activities in research and teaching both within and beyond the university.
Applicants should have a PhD and experience in international research management, in supporting interdisciplinary research and education, and in fundraising for international scientific cooperation. Experience with and contacts to relevant funding institutions are desired. Knowledge of German and fluency in spoken and written English is required.
