Echoes of Fengshui and the Anthropocene: Environmental Governance in Qing Dynasty China and German Perspectives on Environmental Loss
The German Department at Grinnell College is pleased to announce a special hybrid event titled “Echoes of Fengshui and the Anthropocene: Environmental Governance in Qing Dynasty China and German Perspectives on Environmental Loss.” This event will feature a guest lecture by Professor Tristan Brown from the History Department at MIT, who will deliver a talk online. Grinnell faculty member Professor Christian Struck from the German Department will be present in person to engage in a live dialogue with Professor Brown.
This lecture will explore the intersections between environmental governance in Qing Dynasty China, focusing on the role of fengshui, and contemporary German perspectives on environmental loss, providing insights into both historical and modern environmental challenges.
