BACK FROM ADJACENT FIELDS
Three researchers from our project have recently visited Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to conduct interviews and participant observation and collect material related to XUAR and Uyghurs. This is remote ethnography. The journey spans across art galleries in Almaty, the border trading zone of Khorgos, the Madina Bazaar in Bishkek and the archives of Tashkent from September to November 2023.
