Travel Grants for the 15th EAJS International Conference 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal
The EAJS will provide travel grants for a limited number of conference participants. The Travel Grant Programme is meant to enable early career scholars who do not have access to conference travel grants at their home university to travel to and participate in the 15th EAJS International Conference.
Travel Grants will be €500 each.
The extended deadline to apply for Travel Grants for the 15th EAJS International Conference is 15 April 2017.

Applicants will be required to:
- submit an application letter stating why a participation in the EAJS International Conference is important for their career development;
- demonstrate that their paper/panel participation has been accepted by one of the EAJS sections and that they are invited to present at the 15th EAJS International Conference in Lisbon;
- document that they do not have access to travel support from their home university by handing in in a letter confirming this point from their supervisor, university administration etc.;
- document that they live at least 100km away from the conference site by stating name and address of home university.
The EAJS Council will select the recipients of the Travel Grants. In their consideration, Council members will ponder the career stage and the importance of conference participation for the applicant. The EAJS Council will ensure that travel grants will be distributed reflecting the diversity of countries in Europe and disciplinary fields within Japanese Studies in the EAJS.
All Travel Grant recipients will be required to provide a report summarising their experience in attending the conference.
